Gamma is the tool most people mean when they say "AI presentation maker". It claims around 100 million users, it added its own image generation, Gamma Imagine, in March, and it shipped a mobile app in June. If you are comparing AI presentation tools in 2026, you are comparing against Gamma.

We make two products that compete with it, from different directions, and this is our comparison. We have tried to write it so that a Gamma user would recognise their tool in it. Where we are guessing about Gamma, we say so; where we are describing our own products, you should read it knowing who wrote it.

The one-paragraph versions

Gamma turns a prompt into a narrative, web-native presentation that scrolls as much as it slides. Its strength is the format: modern, fluid, made to be shared as a link. It has a large template library, image generation built in, and it exports to PDF and PowerPoint when you need a file.

NextDocs turns a prompt into a finished document or deck with a file at the end. It generates several complete versions to choose from, lets you pick the model, applies a brand kit to everything, and exports to PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Google Slides, Google Docs, PNG and HTML.

Shyne is a shared canvas where a team and an AI agent work in the same file at the same time, with decks, documents, social posts and video together, and publishing to social channels from the same place.

Pick Gamma when

• The output is meant to be a link, not a file, and the scrolling narrative format is the point.
• You want the largest template library in the category.
• Your team already lives in it, and the deck is not going anywhere else.

Pick NextDocs when

• You need a file at the end: a client wants Word, a partner wants PowerPoint, a board wants a locked PDF.
• The document is not a deck at all: a proposal, a report, a contract.
• You want to choose between several complete versions, or between models, rather than edit one draft.
• The facts have to be right and cited.

Pick Shyne when

On pricing

Gamma's free plan gives a fixed number of credits, and its paid tiers add more. NextDocs has a free plan with Gemini Flash models and paid plans that unlock the larger models, more versions and the premium lane. Shyne is free to start, with Pro at $20 a month and Ultra at $100 a month; one credit on Shyne is one cent of usage, so the price list is the usage list. All three have free tiers; try each on the same brief before you decide.

The honest summary

Gamma made the category and still defines the narrative format. NextDocs is for the person who needs a finished, exported document, with choice. Shyne is for the team that needs the AI in the room. They are different tools for different jobs, and there are days you would use all three.
